Voice of Democracy: We have a Winner! Addison L Hage, one of the Voice of Democracy entries sponsored by Post 1648 received a $50 dollar award for finishing fourth in the Department competition. Congratulations to Addison! Finally! VFW Post 1648's own Quartermaster, Tom Flatau, was appointed to the position of

National Aide-de-Camp in recognition of his long years of service and tireless work in the

background that has gone unnoticed too long. His appointment was posted on Page 12 of the

Oct 2022 – Jan 2023 Gopher Oversea'r. Congratulations Tom!

Important information from the Veteran's Administration

Are you eligible for PACT Act benefits? While VA began to process these claims on Jan. 1, 2023, applicants should apply now to maximize benefit payments. For any PACT Act claims received by Aug. 10, 2023, VBA may issue benefit payments back to Aug. 10, 2022. Learn how to file a disability claim to secure your full benefits! Meeting Reminder:

Since the New Ulm and Sleepy Eye posts

merged to create the new Nagel-Radl Post

1648, the unit now covers all of Brown County

as well as parts of Blue Earth, Nicollet, and

Redwood counties. Meetings alternate

between the American Legion club rooms in

New Ulm on odd-numbered months and the

Sleepy Eye Serviceman's Club on even-numbered months. Meetings start at 7 PM but

try to arrive by 6:30 so we can start on time.
