VFW POST 1648 ANNOUNCES YOUTH ESSAY THEMES FOR SCHOLARSHIP MONEY FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2016-17.

Each year VFW Post 1648 of New Ulm, receives a new theme for the "Voice of Democracy" which is for grades 9 thru 12, and "Patriot's Pen" which is for grades 6 thru 8.  Post 1648 winners in each category will receive $100 for 1st place; $75 for 2nd place; $50 for 3rd place and $25 for 4th  place.

Voice of Democracy (Grades 9-12th)

Theme is "My Responsibility to America"

At the district level each winner will receive $200 for 1st place; $100 for 2nd place; $75 for 3rd place; $50 for 4th place.  State winners will receive $2000 for 1st place; $1000 for 2nd place; $600 for 3rd place And $500 for 4th place. 

 

Patriot's Pen (Grades 7 & 8th)

Theme is "The America I believe in"

For "Patriot's Pen" a Savings Bond of $250 for 1st place; $200 for 2nd place; and $100 for 3rd place. 

The National winner will receive $30,000 and the Patriot's Pen winner will receive $5000.
